Paris, Tenn.—More and more progress is being made in the construction of the Atkins-Porter Community Park on Jackson Street in Paris as workers were applying the foundation to the paver walkway until late Thursday night.
The pavilion at the park was completed recently, as was electrical wiring receptables and a ceiling fan.
The Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association has been planning for the community park since last year and received a grant from the USDA for construction, which was matched by the Association.
A home that had become an eyesore and public nuisance in the neighborhood was demolished and the Association now owns the property at 311 Jackson St.
In the coming weeks, bricked walkways, a signboard, trees and benches will be placed at the park.
