Cottage Grove, Tenn.—The Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department was called back to the scene of Wednesday night’s house fire on Cowell Road when the structure rekindled early this morning.

The home at 155 Cowell Rd. is a total loss. The one-story frame structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. In all, 14 firefighters and four trucks from the Cottage Grove department were on the scene until 11:30 p.m.

During the course of battling the blaze, the fire department called for mutual aid from the Paris Fire Department, which sent one truck and two firemen.

Firefighters were again dispatched to the scene at 6:12 a.m. today when the structure rekindled. Two trucks and nine firemen were on the scene until that fire was out at 7:30 a.m.

The family was reportedly camping in the LBL and were not home when the fire started. Cottage Grove Fire Chief John Weiher was unavailable this morning for more information.
