Nashville – In honor of National Public Lands Day, Tennessee State Parks, Paris Landing State Park and Reelfoot Lake State Park will be hosting events throughout the day Saturday, Sept. 22.
At Paris Landing, join Park Ranger Gina Lowry and Park Manager Tim Caldwell for a boat ride from Paris Landing State Park to Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park with an overnight camping adventure. Everyone will be sleeping on the bank of the Tennessee River over looking the water. All food is provided, and there will be programs by Park Manager Tim Caldwell, Gina Lowry, Amy O’Brien, J.C. Johnsonius, Aaron Schapley, and Joshua Justice that will keep your attention.
Bring snacks that you may enjoy along the way. See the Tennessee River and learn history along the way. All Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Meet at the Paris Landing Marina at 10 a.m. Cost is $65 adults $45 for children 7-12. Call the park office at 731 641-4465.
Paris Landing also will be having park beautification all day, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., including landscaping, flower beds, trimming bushes, etc.
At Reelfoot, join staff rangers at the Reelfoot Lake State Park Visitor Center for an interpretive hike on the boardwalk over the lake from 11 a.m. to noon. On this special day, hikers will have the opportunity to witness spectacular wildlife native to the Reelfoot area, as everyone walks above the lake and cypress knees that help entail the breathtaking scenery found at Reelfoot Lake. The event is free.
