"His Freedom Was Short-Lived": Escaped Henry Co. Inmate Caught

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry Co. Jail inmate who escaped earlier today from a work detail at Henry Co. Medical Center has been located and is back in custody.
Sheriff Monte Belew said, “The inmate’s freedom was short- lived and he is now back inside the walls of the Henry County Jail where he will stay. Unfortunately inmates such as this bring a dark light on all of the good work programs that are carried out by inmates for the betterment of the community. Shank will NOT be allowed back out to work.”
After an anonymous tip reporting Shanks’ whereabouts, Sgt. Blake Jenkins and Deputy Dalton Watson responded and found Shank hiding behind an out building.
Belew said, “Shank tried to flee but was unsuccessful and was apprehended by the two deputies. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community for their continued support of law enforcement in Henry County. We hope to see Shank prosecuted to the fullest.”
Craig Shank, age 25, of shankle Rd., Puryear, is now charged with escape in addition to the misdemeanor charge for which he was incarcerated.
According to Captain Adam Jenkins, Shank was assigned to the hospital maintenance staff and was released to them this morning at 7:30 a.m. by the sheriff’s office correctional officers.
At 11:34 a.m. today, the sheriff’s office received a call from the hospital saying they could not locate Shank.
