Camden, Tenn.—A Camden man is being held in the Benton Co. Jail without bond after he was found asleep in car with 283.9 grams of meth and a loaded handgun.
Donald Ashby was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of meth, possession of a Legend drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. $1,308 in what is believed to be drug proceeds was confiscated.
A concerned citizen called about a male subject sleeping on the side of the road and thought he may need medical attention. Benton Co. Sgt. Wood and EMS were called to the scene.
Sgt. Wood got Ashby out of the car and asked if he had anything in the car or on him and Ashby said, yes, he had a lot of meth. A wad of cash was found on the floor board and he was found with prescription pills in a plain bottle and the loaded handgun.
