McKenzie, Tenn.—With the closing of McKenzie Regional Hospital looming, a community meeting has been set to discuss health care services in Carroll County. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, at the Park Theatre in downtown McKenzie.
Representatives from the McKenzie Medical Center doctor’s clinic, Baptist Hospital of Carroll Co. in Huntingdon, and McKenzie Regional will be at the community meeting.
As we reported earlier, McKenzie Regional will close and discontinue most of its patient services, including the emergency room, on September 15. Baptist Memorial Health Care has agreed to purchase the assets of the hospital, including its real property and ambulance service.
In a recent statement, McKenzie Regional said, “Our hospital recently announced it will discontinue most patient services, including the emergency department, as of September 15. However, outpatient diagnostic imaging and ambulance services will continue. The difficult decision was made following years of low patient volumes, increased competition and declining reimbursements from government and commercial insurers. If you are or have been a patient at McKenzie Regional Hospital and have questions about obtaining your medical records, please email MRH_MedicalRecords@QuorumHealth.com or call 615-221-3786.”
