Paris, Tenn.—The city of Paris has begun posting signs announcing the new maintenance rules for the city’s five cemeteries. So far, signs have been posted at the City Cemetery on Ruff Street and Greenwood Cemetery. Signs will be posted at Hillcrest, Memorial and Maplewood Cemeteries later. The city approved the new rules at a commission meeting earlier this year and the rules are intended to provide uniformity and ease of maintenance for the cemeteries. Current gravesites will not be changed—the new rules will apply to new gravesites and they restrict the placing of benches, chairs, curbing, trees, shrubs and arrangements on the graves.
