Union City Schools Spirit Wear Now Available To All Students

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director
Union City, Tenn.–The Union City community has stepped up to show its true colors.

Several “friends” of the UC School System along with local business Final Flight Outfitters have provided Purple and Gold spirit wear for several students who were without that attire.

Union City Middle School teacher Christina King noticed the need recently when a handful of children did not wear school colors on the designated Spirit Day.

King inquired as to why, and was told that most of those students did not have that particular apparel available to them.

She then reached out to several of her friends in the community, asking for Tornado clothing that was in good condition from families whose children had outgrown attire so that she might distribute it to those young people in need.

And Final Flight stepped up and stepped in, too, donating several new shirts from their store for students.

“Our Union City community has always been so supportive of our students and the educational system,” King said. “I just noticed before the big pep rally to start the year that we had some students who weren’t wearing Purple and Gold spirit wear. When I asked why, I was touched to try and do something about it.

“Really, I just texted a few friends who I knew had older children who might have outgrown some of their Union City shirts and see if they’d be interested in giving them to some kids who’d be proud to get them and needed them. Final Flight has always gone above and beyond for our schools.

“And the students were thrilled to get the shirts. Their faces just lit up when they wore them because they could be a part of Spirit Day.”

It’s all a part of the Purple and Gold Pride experience.
