Paris, Tenn.–A huge crowd was on hand Friday evening for the Thank You party for long-time W.G. Rhea Library Director Connie McSwain as she retires after 19 years. McSwain was honored with the Loyal Patriot Award from County Mayor Brent Greer and the Marquis de Paris Award from Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell, the highest honors that can be bestowed by the county and city. McSwain has been director longer than any of her predecessors and also is retiring from the Henry County Commission. The library board named the computer lab in her honor–the Connie McSwain Technology Lab–and a new portrait of her is hanging on the wall on the main floor at the library. In photos, McSwain shows some of the gifts from the county while Childrens’ Librarian Kayla Nation takes video; City Manager Kim Foster gets ready to hug McSwain while Mayor Carlton Gerrell and Norma Gerrell look on; McSwain listens while County Mayor Brent Greer presents her with the Loyal Patriot Award.
