Paris, Tenn.—It was a solemn but happy occasion at the Henry County Courthouse Tuesday evening as the county officials were sworn in.
Circuit Court Judge Donald Parish told the officials and their family members who attended the ceremony that what they were doing was a great public service. “Congratulations and I thank you for offering yourself up to public service in this way,” he said.
Parish noted, “The most important road is the one that goes right in front of your house. The government we see the most and are touched by the most is the one right here in our community.”
County Mayor Brent Greer noted, “This is an important time for those of us in Henry County and a solemn time.”
New County Commissioner Jerry Berry was sworn in, along with returning Commissioner Rev. James Travis and the other commissioners who were re-elected. County constables Chris Coley, Thomas Bell and J.C. Chappell were sworn in, as was road board member Mike Parker.
County Officials sworn in were County Mayor Brent Greer, County Clerk Donna Craig, Circuit Court Clerk Mike Wilson, County Trustee Randi French and County Register Pam Martin.
