Cottage Grove, Tenn.—The Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department was busy Friday, with two overlapping fire calls.
Firefighters were dispatched around noon on a report of a house on fire in the 1500 block of Hwy. 140N. The house was a total loss, but Firefighter Justin Miller said, “Thankfully, we were able to save some of their personal belongings.”
Six fire trucks and 10 firefighters from the Cottage Grove department battled the fire along with mural aid from the Como Volunteer Fire Department.
Miller told WENK/WTPR on Saturday that the home was a total loss to the structure “because the fire had gotten in the attic and it was hard for us to get to. Then there was a lot of smoke and water damage.”
While firefighters were making sure there were no more hot spots in the house, firefighters were called to a truck fire on Lampkins Road. The truck was a total loss. The fire was reportedly caused by a gas leak.
