Firing Of Rifles This Weekend Moved To Visitor Center Area At Fort Donelson

Dover, Tenn.—The firing of the rifles during this weekend’s Civil War encampment at Fort Donelson National Battlefield has been moved to the Visitor Center area due to concerns with the Bald Eagles’ nesting area at the park.

Originally, the military drill and rifle demonstrations had been set at the Confederate log hut sites, which are close to the Eagles’ nesting area. Members of the Fort Donelson Eagles Facebook group voiced concerns and those demos have been moved.

Interpretors from the 8th Tennessee Infantry Regiment will be camped out on the battlefield all weekend. The camp will be open for visitation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
