Union City, Tenn.—Two accidents caused injuries to three people in Union City, with one driver being cited.
On Tuesday, Union City Police responded to an accident in the 600 block of E. Reelfoot Ave., and found both drivers injured.
In the course of the investigation, it was determined that Kathy Barker, age 71, of Union City, was sitting in the turn lane and had been there for several seconds when Tracy Hale, age 49, of Troy, was traveling in the turning lane as a traffic lane and hit Barker’s car, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
Both Barker and Hale were transported to Baptist Memorial by ambulance. Hale was cited for driving on a roadway lane for traffic and not using her seatbelt.
On Wednesday afternoon, police responded to the intersection of E. Reelfoot and Lynn St. and found a driver had collided with a street sign. It was determined that the driver, Joyce Smith, age 66 of Hickman, was diabetic and had suffered a seizure causing her to wreck her car. She was transported to Baptist Memorial by ambulance.
