Humphreys County, Tenn.—The body of a missing Carroll County man was reportedly recovered Sunday from the Buffalo River near the Humphreys-Perry County line.
Rescue squads were called to a farm on Seed Tick Road Sunday afternoon on a report that a Carrol County man had gone missing while canoeing.
The Tennessee River Valley News is reporting that witnesses said a man and woman were canoeing on the river in southern Humphreys Co. when the canoe overturned and the man was retrieving items from the canoe.
Rescue squads from both Perry and Humphreys Counties, along with deputies from both counties, assisted in the search and recovery.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notifications.
When contacted by WENK/WTPR, neither the Perry nor Humphreys Co. sheriff’s office could provide updated information this morning.
