Erin, Tenn.—A former chairman of the Houston County school board has been charged with killing his wife, who was found dead in their Erin home Saturday.
Kinney Louis Spears, age 51, was arrested Sunday and is now being held on $100,000 bond in the Houston County Jail.
His wife, Donnita Spears, age 50, was a deputy clerk in the Houston County Clerk’s Office.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said TBI agents and forensic scientists helped link Kinney Spears to the crime. TBI spokesman Josh Devine said they are awaiting autopsy results.
Spears resigned from the school board last summer after being a member for several years.
The manner of Mrs. Spears’ death has not been made public.
