Dyersburg, Tenn.–The suspect in the Allen’s Grocery Store armed robbery has died after succumbing to multiple gunshot wounds sustained during gun fire exchange with the owner of the store.
Officers were notified of his death on Sunday August 12. The suspect was identified as Joshua Foster, age 31. An affidavit was obtained charging Foster with especially aggravated robbery but he was not taken into custody due to his critical condition at Regional One Hospital in Memphis.
As reported earlier on WENK/WTPR, the armed robbery occurred on August 4, at Allen’s Grocery, 1800 Wheeler St, Dyersburg,.
Allen T. McNeely, owner of Allen’s Grocery, was wounded by the armed robbers. According to Dyersburg Police, his condition was non-critical. He was first transported to West Tennessee Health Care and then transferred to another facility after treatment.
The ongoing investigation has produced a second suspect who is a person of interest. According to District Attorney General, Danny Goodman, Jr., this is an active investigation which includes all individuals who were involved in the incident; therefore, the identity of any persons of interest cannot be disclosed at this time.
