Paris, Tenn.—Two more young students from the Paris Special Schools District have been invited to the Governor’s Mansion on Sunday to celebrate their reading achievements, bringing the total from PSSD to three.

First Grader Macie James and Third Grader Alisha Davis will be joining Second Grader Eli Palmer to the Kids’ State Dinner to be held at the Governor’s Mansion Sunday, August 12.

According to the press release from Governor Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam, the event will be held at 4:30 p.m. and includes a walk down the red carpet into the Governor’s residence.

The press release states that some 100 children from all over the state will attend as a reward to elementary-aged students who participated in the First Lady’s Statewide Summer Reading Competition. Students were challenged to track their number of minutes spent reading over the summer and to visit their local libraries.

Macie James is the daughter of Jamie and Ashley James. Alisha Davis is the daughter of Angela Davis. Palmer is the son of Bob and Allyson Palmer. He was noted by the PSSD board when it met last week.

Upon arrival on the red carpet, the children and their escorts will enjoy dinner, games, musical entertainment and a congratulatory message from the Governor and First Lady.

Each child has their choice of escort to the dinner. Eli and Macie will be escorted by their mothers. Because Alisha’s mother is stationed in Virginia with the U.S. Army, she will be escorted by her grandmother Peggy Davis.
