Camden, Tenn.—Republican Brett Lashlee of Camden was elected Benton County Mayor by a narrow margin of some 30 votes over Democrat Randy Shannon.
Lashlee is an accountant at Caterpillar with a military background. He is the nephew of the late John Lashlee, who was an on-air personality for WTPR and recently was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Lashlee also is the president of the Benton County Genealogy Society.
The unofficial breakdown in votes: Lashlee, 1,968; Randy Shannon, 1,937; Debbie Wright, 501 and Jerry McCartney, 130.
Lashlee thanked the voters of Benton County “for the interest and consideration given to me. I am blessed and humbled to have been a candidate in this election; to have had the due consideration of your trust and support, to have heard and taken in your concerns, and to have conveyed my passion to serve you as well.”
