Murray State To Close During Oliver North’s Appearance

MURRAY, Ky. — In anticipation of the appearance of NRA President Oliver North on the Murray State campus Friday evening, Murray State University will be closing all of its offices from 3-9:30 p.m.

A large number of people is expected on campus, including protestors who disagree with his appearance following the deadly shooting at Marshall County High School earlier this year.

The Marshall Co. Republican Party is hosting North’s appearance, which is set for 7 p.m. at Lovett Auditorium on campus.

The press release issued this morning by Murray State reads: “Murray State University anticipates a large number of visitors on campus Friday, August 3, attending and/or participating in an event sponsored by a non-University affiliated organization. In order to accommodate the increased number of visitors on campus, the University will be closing all offices from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. this Friday. This closure includes all regional campuses in Paducah, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Henderson and Fort Campbell. The University will resume normal operating hours at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 6.”
