With Saturday being the last day of the Early Voting Period in Tennessee, turnout was high in both Henry and Obion Counties, with Saturday being an especially busy day in both counties. So busy, in fact, that Henry County Elections Director Delaina Green said 100 people voted in the first hour.
Obion County voters turned out strong, with 899 more voters casting ballots than during the comparable 2014 early voting period, according to Obion County Elections Director Leigh Schlager.
In Henry County, the overall total was 3,886, which also is higher than the overall total of 3,295 in August of 2014.
Broken down, Republicans turned out in overwhelming numbers in both counties compared with Democratic voters.
In Obion County, the overall total of Republicans voting was 3,021, with Democrats casting 778 votes and 424 voting in general election only.
In Henry County, overall total was 3,886, with 3,042 voting Republican, 818 voting Democrat, and 26 in general election only.
