McKenzie Regional Hospital To Close

McKenzie, Tenn.–After more than 40 years of providing health care services to the Tri-county region, McKenzie Regional Hospital will discontinue most patient services, including the emergency department, by September 15.
The decision comes after years of low patient volumes, increased competition and declining reimbursements from government and commercial insurers.
An asset purchase agreement has been signed with Baptist Memorial Health Care, which operates Baptist Memorial Hospital-Huntingdon, to purchase the assets of MRH including the hospital’s real property and ambulance service. Baptist intends to operate the outpatient diagnostic imaging center and sleep center located on the MRH campus. They intend to transition ambulance services to Priority Ambulance, its 911 service partner.
Hospital officials said, “We are thankful for our outstanding teams of employees, nurses, physicians, other staff, volunteers and board members. They have spent years in tireless service to our patients, their families and this community. Most of all, we are grateful for you – our neighbors and friends – for placing your trust in us as your health care provider.”
If you have a scheduled procedure or appointment at McKenzie Regional Hospital, a member of the hospital team will contact you to discuss any necessary transition of care.
