Hornbeak, Tenn.—A Hornbeak business and nearby residence were destroyed in an early morning fire today.

Destroyed in the fire was the Roger Parson Repair business on Main and N. Shelltown.

Hornbeak Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bob Reavis told WENK/WTPR that no one was injured in the fire, although a family was at home when it started. “It was a man and wife and maybe a couple of grandkids in the house,” Reavis said. “They said they woke up because someone outside was laying on their horn, blowing their car horn and they got up to see what was going on. By then the fire had extended from the business into the house.”

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, he said, but it appears to have started in the business.

Three fire departments, along with the Obion County Sheriff’s Office, EMA, Gibson Electric and LC Utility District were on the scene, he said. “Thanks to all the agencies for their help,” he said.

Investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

Reavis said the Red Cross was on the scene to assist the family.
