By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Dukedom, Tenn.—A house fire in Dukedom is under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the State Arson Squad and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the apprehension of whomever was involved in the fire.
Property Owner is Roland Martin, who is a nationally-known professional sports fisherman and host of Fishing with Roland Martin on the NBCSports television channel. Martin has posted information on the fire on his Facebook page and is asking for the public’s help in finding the culprits.
“Last Saturday some evil people burnt down our family’s house in Dukedom, Tenn.,” he said.
The home was occupied by Murray State University students with children and pets, he said. The family was on vacation, but a few of their pets perished in the fire.
Martin said, “Police have determined that it was arson! If anyone has any information to help us catch these criminals, please call this tip line at 1-800-762-3072. They are providing a $5,000 reward to information leading to the apprehension of these people.”
The home is located at 7988 Hwy. 118, Dukedom, and when the Latham/Dukedom Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the fire at 6 a.m. July 14, it was fully involved. The one and a half story frame home was a total loss.
