PARIS, Tenn. – Eighteen year-old J. C. “Jay” Kennedy, a graduate of Henry County High School and incoming freshman football player at Bethel University passed away Tuesday afternoon after a one vehicle accident on Highway 79. The wreck occurred around 12:45 p.m. about five miles southwest of Paris.
The 6’5 270 offensive lineman participated Tuesday morning in a newcomer camp at Bethel. He left campus after lunch and was driving toward Paris.
Bethel Coach Brent Dearmon said, “Our staff and players are deeply saddened by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Kennedy family.”
The entire Bethel athletic department and university sends their heartfelt sympathies to the Kennedy family.
Funeral Service Set for Saturday:
Jay’s funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 at TVCC in Paris with Ridgeway Funeral Home in charge. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations should be made to Ridgeway Funeral Home.
