Judge Vicki Snyder Elected As Fellow Of Tennessee Bar

 
 
PARIS, Tenn.,– Henry County General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge Vicki Snyder has recently been elected a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation.  Some 855 attorneys across the state make up this association.  The invitation is a position of honor and has been extended to 32 attorneys this year by the Board of Trustees.  Earlier in May 2018, Judge Snyder was introduced as a new Fellow during the annual Fellows’ Dinner in Nashville.
 
The Bar Foundation’s purpose is two-fold.  They honor attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their professional community and to administer a grant making program.  The grants are awarded in excess of $21,000,000 to law-related projects with an emphasis on public interest.
 
Judge Vicki Shepherd Snyder is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Memphis, Tennessee.  She clerked with the Shelby County Criminal Court Judges from 1985-1986.  Judge Snyder worked in the private practice of law and also served as an Assistant District Attorney General and Assistant District Public Defender for the 24th Judicial District of Tennessee before being elected Henry County General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge in 2006.
She is a member of the Henry County Literacy Board and Lakeway Kiwanis Club.  In 2009 she was selected as the Kiwanian of the year.  In 2008 the Salvation Army selected her as their honorary chairman and she is a founding member of the REAL Hope Youth Center.  Recently, Judge Snyder started a CASA program in Henry County for the benefit of children who have been abused and neglected and, thereafter, placed in foster care.
She is a member of the Henry County Bar Association, serving as past President, as well as the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Anne Schneider Chapter of the Lawyer’s Association for Women.
Judge Snyder is a member of the Tennessee General Sessions Judges Council and serves on the Education Committee.  She is also a member of the Tennessee Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and serves as Council Vice President and as a member of the Executive Committee and Education Committee Chairman.  In August of 2018 she will serve as Council President.
In 2016 Judge Snyder was presented the McCain-Abernathy Memorial Award by the Tennessee Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges for exceptional service in advancing juvenile justice.  She serves on the Tennessee Domestic Violence State Coordinating Council and represented the judicial branch by serving on the Three Branches Institute in West Tennessee.
Judge Snyder also served as a member of the Indigent Representation Task Force ad served as a member of the Joint Ad-hoc Tennessee Blue Ribbon Task Force on Juvenile Justice.  She is a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ and works with the Sulphur Well Youth Ministry.
