Paris, Tenn.—Henry County was hit hard by Thursday night’s storms, with at least one injury reported along with major damage to homes, a barn, vehicles, and boats.

Henry County Emergency Management Agency Director Ron Watkins said the county was slammed by 60 mph winds and half-inch hail during the evening storm. Watkins said he is assessing the damage this morning.

A man on N. Brewer Street was injured when a tree reportedly fell on his home, his truck and himself. Scanner traffic indicated the man called 911, but no other information was available early this morning.

One hard hit area was 641N and the Herschel-Sykes Rd. area near Puryear, with trees down and a barn damaged.

Watkins said the storm crossed the county, beginning at Buchanan and Paris Landing and moving southwest. He said trees fell on 641N and that boats were damaged in the Buchanan Resort boat dock.

It was another busy night for the Paris Board of Public Utilities, too, with approximately 2,400 outages in 26 different locations. Extra crews were dispatched to repair the downed lines and broken poles.
At the Gibson Rural Electric Membership Corp., a total 2,582 customers were without power in 19 different outages beginning at 10 a.m. By 7:15 a.m., all of the customers had been restored.
