Gary Vandiver Installed As Gleason Rotary President

Gleason, Tenn.—Gary Vandiver has been installed as President of the Gleason Rotary Club. Vandiver is a long-time Rotary member and a Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy. The Rotary Club held its annual officer installation at the Simply Southern Café and Vandiver assumed the position as president on July 1 as Immediate Past-President Jason Martin began his duties as Assistant District Governor for District 6760. Martin is Printshop Manager at Tri-County Publishing in McKenzie.
Martin administered the oath of office to Vandiver , while Vandiver administered the oath of office to President-Elect David Esch and board members Treasurer Charles Bookout, Secretary Cil Weddington, Sergeant-at-Arms Jacky Esch, Jason Martin and Delois Shaw.
According to Martin, 2017-2018 was marked as a successful year for the 16 member club. Two members Shaw and Martin were named Paul Harris Fellows–the award indicates a contribution of at least $1,000 was gifted to the Rotary Foundation. The club was noted as a Star Club every member per capita contributed over $100 to the Rotary Foundation along with donating to PolioPlus Fund.
Since Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative nearly 30 years ago, the incidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000 cases a year to just 37 cases in 2016. To sustain this progress, and protect all children from polio, Rotary has committed to raising $50 million per year over the next three years in support of global polio eradication efforts.
