Cottage Grove, Tenn.—Henry Co. Mayor Brent Greer takes a playful shot at State Rep. Tim Wirgau in the dunking booth at Wednesday’s annual Cottage Grove Freedom Festival. With the heat index reaching 115 degrees in the morning, the dunking booth probably felt pretty good. Parade winners this year were: Best Of Parade—Cottage Grove Junior Firefighters; Best Float—Ables family; and Most Patriotic—Izzie Mellum as Lady Liberty. With the excessive heat, the crowd wasn’t as big as usual for the festivities and everyone was taking a lot of water and ice cream breaks. In other photos, Jan Foy and other members of the Cottage Grove United Methodist Church hand out free water; Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Powell and Paris Firefighter Jason McCord in their hot uniforms leading the parade.
