McKenzie, Tenn. – After spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Bethel University Women’s basketball program, Coach Tyler Tate is leaving the school returning home to accept a position in the Gibson County (TN) Special School District.
The last three years marked his second stint with the program and eighth overall. He had spent two years as the head coach of the Dyer Middle School in Dyer, Tennessee prior to his most recent Bethel seasons.
Tyler earned his degree in Physical Education and a Master’s in Education, both from Bethel. He is a native of Rutherford, Tennessee and attended Bradford High School.
Coach Chris Nelson commented, “Obviously we are sad to see Coach Tate leave but we are also proud of his new position back home. Tyler has been a pillar of our program since I first started coaching here and he will always be a part of Bethel and our team. He is the type of guy that is genuine and cares about people and always gives more than he takes. We are going to miss him.”
