Lightning Damages Stewart County 911

Dover, Tenn.–At approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28th, the Stewart Co. 911 center suffered severe lightning damage.

911 Director Clint Mathis said, “Almost all of the equipment in the building was affected in some manner. Some systems were more severely damaged than others. 911 immediately initiated its emergency plan and all 911 calls were routed to Houston County 911. At no time did they miss any 911 calls.”

Over the next 12 hours many vendors assisted in patching what could be patched and they were able to move operations into a command trailer that was already on site in anticipation of an upcoming center remodel, he said. “In less than 12 hours they were back answering our own 911 calls.”

Mathis thanked Houston County 911, Stewart County 911 dispatchers and local power providers and vendors for their immediate response to restore vital services.
