Paris, Tenn.—Some 150 customers of the Board of Public Utilities are still without power as of 4:45 p.m. Thursday. Widespread outages throughout the county were caused by a severe storm that blew through earlier Thursday, downing trees and power poles.
At the height of the storm, some 2,500 customers were without power.
BPU General Manager Terry Wimberley told WENK/WTPR Thursday afternoon that 150 were still without power, with 100 of those involved in one outage. The other 50 are caused by 20 outages, he said.
BPU crews were busy all afternoon “and we plan to work straight through until everyone’s power is back on,” Wimberley said.
