McKenzie, Tenn.—The city of McKenzie and McKenzie Industrial Development board were awarded a $71,250 grant to complete the renovation of the former L&N Railroad Depot in downtown McKenzie.
Tennessee Economic Development Director Bob Rolfe and State Department of Tourism Development Commissioner Kevin Triplett presented the check to city officials including McKenzie Mayor Jill Holland and McKenzie Economic Director Frank Tate. State Sen. John Stevens also was on hand for the presentation.
The old depot building is on the National Register of Historic Places and the grant will be used for restoration and to create a visitor information center and community center. The other half of the building is used for the city Industrial/Economic Development Office.
