Union City, Tenn.—Meeting at a short special session Thursday night, the Obion County Schools board of education formalized its contract with incoming Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins.
The board approved a four-year contract for Watkins, which Board President Fritz Fussell said is what Watkins sought. Fussell said a four-year contract is positive for both Watkins and the district.
Board members also approved her salary at $119,000 a year, which Fussell said is still lower than other neighboring districts of the same size.
Watkins currently is Director of Roane Co. Schools and formerly was a long-time teacher and administrator at the Paris Special Schools District.
A public meet and greet for Watkins will be held at both South Fulton School and Obion County Central High School.
