Huntingdon, Tenn.—Last week’s second annual Shooting Hunger event in Carroll County raised $65,000 for food banks in west Tennessee, which organizers said will provide over 243,000 meals.
A total of 63 shooting teams participated in the event, which is an increase from 48 last year. The event was held at the Carroll County Sports Shooting Park.
Among the team members were Gubernatorial Candidate Randy Boyd, Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew, Boyd’s campaign manager Chip Saltsman, and Jackson Police Chief Christopher Wiser.
Tosh Farms of Henry provided lunch for everyone and donated $10,000 toward the event. Peppers Ford of McKenzie offered free test drives in new Ford trucks and with each test ride, the Ford Motor Co. donated funds to local food banks.
Sponsors of the event were Tosh Fars, Tyson Foods, Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation, Tennessee Farmers Coop, and Farm Credit Mid-America. Organizers were Carroll County Mayor Kenny McBride, Lance Rider and Bill Lane of the Carroll County Sports Shooting Park.
