Dover, Tenn.—Shirley Knight of Dover—the beloved Bald Eagle reporter for Fort Donelson National Battlefield Park—has passed away.

Knight died Wednesday and members of the Fort Donelson Bald Eagles Facebook page have been posting tributes to her. Knight loved the Bald Eagles at the park and visited there every day—sometimes several times a day—keeping everyone abreast of their activities.

A simple graveside service will be held for family and there will be no visitation.

However, at 10 a.m. Saturday, the hearse from Anglin Funeral Home will take Shirley on her final trip through Fort Donelson.  Connie Ross Wilson said, “This honors her contribution and love that she had for all her friends and her Eagles. She will pass by friends one last time and bid her Eagles farewell.”

Anyone wanting to be at Fort Donelson Battlefield to say goodbye to our Shirley, please be at the Battlefield by 9 or 9;30 a.m. Saturday morning. The hearse will not be going down to the picnic area. It will only be making its way down to the circle, and back out.
Please park at the picnic area and walk to cabin area or at the circle. If it’s possible you can also carpool.

She will be buried at Gum Springs Baptist Church in Clarksville and placed beside her husband.
