Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Shepherd’s Table, the Community Kitchen created by the volunteers at the First Presbyterian Church, will be having a cookout, on Tuesday, June 19th, in front of their building at 19835 E. Main Street. Dining will begin promptly at 5:15 pm and the kitchen will be open until 6:45 pm. Anyone hungry or seeking fellowship for a meal is invited.
Jason Vandiver, Chairman of The Shepherd’s Table Executive Committee, says they will be grilling hamburgers on the lawn in front of the church. Mary Lodge of Paris, a volunteer in the kitchen, said they will also serve taco Salads, watermelon, and for dessert, cookies and ice Cream.
Everyone that attends The Shepherd’s Table is treated as a guest and served restaurant style. After you come in and have a seat, a volunteer brings you your drink and your supper. They also do all of the cleanup, as well. The guests are asked to simply enjoy a delicious meal compliments of the hard-working kitchen staff.
The mission of the Community Kitchen was to serve at least one person in need a hot meal. The community kitchen’s success is dependent upon guests, volunteers and donations. If you know of someone that needs a hot meal or would just prefer to not eat alone please inform them about The Shepherd’s Table or better yet bring them by and join. More information about volunteering or donating to the Shepherd’s Table may be obtained by calling The First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon at (731) 986-5642.
