Paris, Tenn.—Hayes Construction personnel were busy—not to mention hot and dusty—Monday afternoon as they began tearing down the kitchen/cafeteria area as part of the continuing Rhea Elementary School remodeling.
Paris Special Schools District (PSSD) Director Dr. Norma Gerrell said Monday’s demolition is the last remaining demolition activity that is needed before the project is completed.
Hayes personnel were busy last week removing fixtures and interior walls in the kitchen/cafeteria area. Supervisor David “Tater” Hayes and his workers were careful to salvage as much of the interior murals as possible. They set aside the concrete blocks that the murals were painted on and have made them available to the public to have.
Gerrell said the building project is on target to be completed by the first of the next school year. “The contractors will give us an update and a budget update, actually, at the June board meeting. And they’re going to give us a tour of the work they’ve done so far.”
