Relay Raises $53,933.40; Top Awards Announced

 
 
Paris, Tenn.–Funds are still coming in and final tallies have yet to be made, but preliminary calculations show that Henry County Relay for Life has raised $53,933.40. The 2018 Relay for Life was held last night, with plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied until midnight.
 
Publicity Chair Dana Allen provided the totals and the list of awards that were handed out at the closing ceremonies last night:

Best Food:  Lawnmasters (BBQ Ribs)
 
Best Dessert:  First United Methodist Church

Best Overall Campsite:  Ladies With Swag
 
Rookie Team of the Year:  Glo Team
 
The Perserverance Award was presented to The Ladies with Swag Team as they have continued on and Relay in memory of their former team leader who lost her battle with cancer.
 
The Gary Powley Voice of Relay Award was presented to WENK/WTPR News Director Shannon McFarlin for her coverage and support of Relay for Life news and happenings.
 
The Chris Steigleiter Team Spirit Award was presented to Team Glo for their great attitude and constant encouragement.
 
The Rosie Baker Spirit of Relay Award was presented to The Kroger Team.  They truly embodied the spirit of Relay this year and the spirit of Rosie who started Relay for Life in Henry County .
 
Early in the evening, the Our Hero Awards were given to Educators Greg Lassiter, Evan Twilbeck, Charlotte Lantrip Loines, James Counce and Paula Boyd.
 
Relay Co-Chair Tracey Beasley said the evening was a success and thanked everyone for their support of such a good cause.
