Union City, Tenn.—A Union City man was arrested on drug charges Thursday evening and the driver also gave officers a false name and was arrested for lack of driver’s license.
Officers were called to 1200 S. Everett Blvd. on a vehicle accident and made contact with someone who said he was Aaron William Ziehr from Indiana and Brian Keith Tanner who said he was from Owensboro, Ky., to get info for the accident report.
Ziehr said he did not have his license with him and gave officers a Social Security number and date of birth which was not on file in either Indiana or Kentucky, according to the report.
The passenger, Tanner, was standing outside the car with his backpack on. He told officers he had a ride coming. Officers asked him if he wasn’t going to ride with his friend and tanner said, “I figured he was going to be getting in trouble.”
After more questioning, Ziehr gave his actual name and Social Security number and it turned out he was using his brother’s name. His actual name was Richard Ziehr Jr.
Tanner reportedly told officers he lied about Ziehr’s identity because he told him to.
Officers then searched the black backpack with his permission and found a container with .3 grams of crystal meth, two shooter straws, a razor blade and two dollar bills. Inside one of the bills was white powder which Tanner said was meth and it field tested positive for meth.
Also located inside the backpack was a small purple zipper pouch with a Marijuana leaf and inside was a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana along with a pack of rolling papers. Also located was a small plastic pill bottle which contained several small Marijuana Roaches.
Tanner, age 22, whose address is Reid Road, Union City, is being charged with Possession of Sch. II Meth and Possession of Sch. VI Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.
