Paris, Tenn.—Henry County Historian David Webb portrays E.W. Grove during today’s Paris City Cemetery tour by the students in this week’s Summer History Camp in top photo.
In addition to E.W. Grove, the students today learned about Civil War General J.S. Dawson as portrayed by David Ellison; and former Paris Mayor Mayor Frank McNeill and his wife, as portrayed by Ray and Noragene Harding. Former Paris City Manager Carl Holder also told the students about the monument to the unnamed African-Americans who are buried in the cemetery and Cemetery Committee Volunteers Susan Stewart and Marge Barrows demonstrated how to clean tombstones.
The Summer History Camp is sponsored by the Paris-Henry County Heritage Center and students have been learning first-hand about historic aspects of downtown Paris this week. (Shannon McFarlin photos).
