Huntingdon, Tenn.—The Huntingdon woman who left her toddler home alone for some 24 hours was sentenced to prison this week in Carroll County Circuit Court.
Cassie Scales, age 22, left her two-year-old child alone in the bedroom of their apartment for as long as 24 hours while she was in another part of the state. The bedroom door was locked and when a neighbor called police, they found the child on the floor with a soiled diaper. The child has been placed in foster care.
Scales was convicted of attempt to commit aggravated child neglect and was sentenced to eight years in prison, with one year to be served in jail and the rest in community corrections. She also was ordered to participate in drug and alcohol rehabilitation for a year.
