Paris, Tenn.—Paris Police are investigating a strong-arm burglary at local lending institution Saturday evening.
Officers were called to Volunteer Lending on the burglary call late Saturday afternoon. An employee who had arrived to clean the facility said she found the back and side doors and interior vandalized and money stolen.
According to the report, a splitting axe was laying on the floor in the back room, the doors damaged, door handles broken, desks thrown on the floor and a TV pushed onto the floor.
Some $600 was taken from the safe, which also was damaged. Damages to the desks and doors were estimated over $2,000.
A pair of black-rimmed sunglasses found at the scene and the splitting axe were recovered as evidence.
