Girl Scouts Place Flags At Fort Donelson National Cemetery

Dover, Tenn.—Fort Donelson National Battlefield officials extend a heart-felt appreciation to our area Girl Scouts that wonderfully and honorably placed a flag of the United States before each stone marker of the Fort Donelson National Cemetery.
This is an annual service on the part of our area youth, often with assistance and representation by Girl Scouts from neighboring counties. The young ladies take great care in their duties, pausing to give a silent “thank you” as they adorn the grave.
The 2018 Memorial Day Service will occur this coming Monday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at the Fort Donelson National Cemetery.
During that service, area members of the Boy Scouts of America have the honor of Posting the Colors.
Because of Memorial Day occurring in late May, and the national cemetery having minimal shade, those attending are encouraged to dress appropriately, bring bottled water, and, as seating is not provided, consider bringing a lawn chair or blanket.
