Aden Farm In Carroll County Achieves Tennessee Century Farm Status

McKenzie, Tenn.–The Aden Farm in Carroll County has achieved Tennessee’s Century Farm status. The Aden Farm is located a few miles south of McKenzie and was founded in 1894 by David M. Thomas. He and his wife Cynthia Reid Thomas raised six children on the 185-acre farm, which produced cotton. Eldest son Vernon Thomas inherited the farm and served as president of the Farm Bureau. His daughter Leona Aden and her husband Tim grew corn and raised hogs and chickens. Their son Dale and his family now own the farm and continue to raise chickens and grow corn on the farm. The Century Farm program is administered by the Center for Historic Preservation at Middle Tennessee State University and it recognizes the state’s farms for keeping continuously-owned family land in agricultural production for at least 100 years.
