Paris Man Kills Woman, Self In Depot Street Incident

Paris, Tenn.—A 40-year-old Paris man shot and killed a woman in a Depot Street home and then committed suicide late Tuesday night.

Paris Police Captain Ricky Watson said officers were investigating an unrelated runaway juvenile on Depot Street when they heard several gunshots coming from 1026 Depot Street.

Officers responded and found Demarrio Borum, age 40, in the backyard with a weapon. Watson said Borum put the weapon to his head and threatened to kill himself.

Officers took cover as Borum went back into the house. Upon the police supervisor’s arrival to the scene, he attempted to make contact with Borum who was still in the house.

After several attempts to gain a conversation with Borum, officers planned to enter into the home when another gunshot went off. When officers gained entry, they located Borum, along with Jessica Jones, who was age 29, and both were deceased.

Watson said investigation determined that Borum had shot and killed Ms. Jones. “It appeared as if he was going to leave the residence when confronted by officers, then entered back into the home where he committed suicide.”

Family members have been notified and both bodies have been sent to the TBI for autopsies.
