Paris, Tenn.—No one was hurt, but sadly, the family dog perished in a fire at 919 Glisson Rd. in Paris Wednesday evening.
Paris Fire Captain Chris Fletcher told WENK/WTPR at the scene that the kitchen was destroyed, with smoke damage evident throughout the rest of the house, including the attached garage. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
The resident’s dog died from smoke inhalation, Fletcher said. “We tried to save him, but we couldn’t,” he said.
The resident told firefighters that he was cooking something in the kitchen and forgot about it when he went outside.
Further details were unavailable. Firefighters were still at the scene as of 7:20 p.m. and the report on the fire was not yet completed.
