Paris, Tenn.—Two Henry County High School students have received $5,000 scholarships from the Richardson Family Henry County Educational Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship is administered by the Paris Rotary Club and this year is awarded to Sarah Luna and Ryan Mahan.
Sarah Luna plans to enter the Baptist Memorial College of Health Sciences in Memphis this fall and major in nursing with the goal of working in the pediatric oncology field.
Also receiving a $5,000 scholarship for the fourth year was Ryan Mahan, son of Jeff Mahan and Mel Mahan. He will be a senior this fall at The University of the South in Sewanee Tennessee as a biochemistry/pre-med major. After graduation in 2019 Ryan plans to enter medical school and become a surgeon.
The Richardson Family Henry County Educational Foundation Scholarship was founded in 1997 with a gift from Dr. Bobby Richardson, a Springville native and renowned pioneer cardiovascular surgeon, to honor Dr. John Richardson, a Henry County native. Dr. John was a lifelong educator and held a Doctorate in Education from New York University. The Paris Rotary Club administers the scholarship.
