By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director

Paris, Tenn.—Henry County Circuit Court Clerk Mike Wilson spoke to the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association on landlord-tenant and other issues of concern at its Tuesday night monthly meeting. Wilson stressed that he could not give legal advice but said there are hotlines which provide free legal advice in the state of Tennessee.

He also noted the West Tennessee Legal Services agency located in Huntingdon which provides free legal advice on a host of issues, including housing, domestic violence, veterans’ issues and more. He said the agency is designed to help the victims.

Wilson said during his two terms as Clerk he has secured some $100,000 in grants for the local courts which have improved security in a variety of ways, including programmable locks, and which have provided videoconferencing of court hearings which has cut costs and also helped with security issues.
