Huntingdon, Tenn.—Members of the Huntingdon Department of Public Safety, family, friends and classmates of Hannah Reeves joined forces Saturday to conduct a fundraiser hamburger and hotdog lunch for Hannah, a sophmore at Huntingdon High School who is currently undergoing treatment for lukemia at St. Jude’s in Memphis. A total $2,233 was raised for Hannah.
The successful event was held at Cash Savers Supermarket on East Main Street in Huntingdon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Face painting was also provided by classmates from Huntingdon High School and snow cones and cotton candy was sold by Rachelle Stokes. Rachelle is a staff member at Huntingdon Primary School.
Members of the Huntingdon Public Safety that contributed were Paul Hugueley, Shelton Moon, and Steve Price. Director of Public Safety Walter Smothers said, “Also from Huntingdon Public Safety that I want to say a very heartfelt thank you are the following members that gave their day off to come and make the event such a success: Brian McCaslin, Doug Pruitt and wife Linda, Tim Bennett, Steve Bunn, Mike Murphy and my wife Tresa Smothers.”
“I can’t say enough to thank Jackie Streetman and the staff at Cash Savers for their help in making the event such a success. With the profits and generous donations from so many groups and individuals we cleared $2,233.00 to go to the Team Hannah fund that is set up at First Bank in Huntingdon.”
“This spirit of cooperation and dedication to help someone in need shows what a GREAT community we have. A corndog lunch was sponsored by the Blood, Sweat and Gears Bicycle Club on Friday and the School Melodies entertainment show on Saturday night also donated the proceeds to Team Hannah,” Smothers said.
