Lyon County, Kentucky—The search is continuing for a missing Fort Campbell soldier on Kentucky Lake.
The Lyon Co. Sheriff’s Office told WENK/WTPR Sunday afternoon there has been no luck yet in finding the young man.
The 19-year-old soldier has been missing since Friday afternoon when he was tubing from a pontoon in the Twin Lakes area in the LBL National Recreation Area. The soldier was being pulled from the pontoon when the tube popped. There reportedly were several other Fort Campbell soldiers on the pontoon when the accident happened.
Witnesses told responders that the soldier tried to swim to the bank when he went under. He reportedly was not wearing a life vest. The accident happened near the Hillman Ferry campground.
Lyon County Judge Executive Wade White posted an update on the county’s Facebook page, saying, “I ask for prayers that we find out soldier. I ask for two things: pray we find him soon; pray for our responders.”
Helping Lyon County Search and Rescue is Marshall, McCracken, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. The U.S. Coast Guard also was helping for a time.
